The guys went off happy this morning at 7am - and found a bike shop during their morning break. Last I heared Bob was trying do drag them out so they could get going again.
I've just updated yesterday and added some more pictures. Preston has no free internet access so I have paid to use the Starbucks facility here. Off to buy the guys lunch now. No punctures yet Ivor - anything for a lost nipple?
A fantastic day for cycling. Beautiful sunshine and a tail wind. Awesome views and acres of green grass. Lancaster - best town so far. Loads of laughing - so much so that Geoff nearly fell off his bike a few times.
Warrington will be remembered both as the town of interesting piercings and the great bike shop. Alex at Ron Spencer Cycles where they stopped for their morning break was very helpful and the creaking that Geoff was hearing as he cycled along turned out to be a loose frame. A bit worrying to say the least but this was fixed f.o.c. and the guys (after a bit of shopping for bloke bikey things) continued on their way.
The violent side of Tony came out briefly today when he thumped a red van that almost took him out. Hope he doesn’t do that in Glasgow – they will thump him back around there. I caught them up around lunchtime and followed close behind as the guys found a suitable spot for the daily picnic. I have used the motorways for speed a couple of times (it takes me around an hour to get to the lunch venue) but I’m going to stick to their route in future which is so much more pleasant.
The guys are looking a bit red in places despite applying copious amounts of sun screen. There are very few non waterproof kinds around it seems – but I found an organic factor 25 which should do the trick.
Our fab 4 enjoyed a bit of free wheeling and a conversation with a tractor driver as they took advantage of the drag behind it and the tea stop was a pub in Winster, the Brown Horse Inn. They booked a table for dinner.
This was no ordinary pub and if you are ever looking for a place to stay in the area book it. Not cheap but what quality. Our meal, which included scallops with black pudding, confit of duck and pheasant was faultless and you could see why, on a Tuesday night, taxi’s arrived and departed bringing the well heeled of the surrounding areas out to play. Many thanks to the pub for their donation (now placed with Ann’s contribution in the drinks bottle) and a further generous contribution from an anonymous donor who Geoff had been chatting to while watching the football. Thank you to our waiters, Craig, Emma and Jez behind the bar.
The bed and breakfast, St Johns Lodge on Lake Road, was not up to much and at a cost 3 times the price of last night accommodation was very poor value indeed. Too early to enjoy the breakfast they had paid for the heavily tattooed chap running the place had offered to do a packed breakfast which was left outside our room at 6.00pm. A small bottle of water and a sandwich made out of bread so cheap it sticks to the roof of your mouth as you chew it. It’s only saving grace is that it has free internet access – yippee!
The Brown Horse gave us some mike so the guys will be able to have some Alpen in the morning. Still no sign of the Chichester 3…..

Hi Guys
Glad to see that the weather is holding out. Up North we usually have wet weather!
